Submarine Cables co slashes Internet prices by 10%

Bangladesh Submarine Cables PLC announced a 10 per cent cut in prices for all internet services Sunday, following a decision at its Saturday board meeting.
Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser for Post, Telecommunications, and Information Technology, said the move aligns with efforts to make internet affordable.
“Wholesale prices are dropping, slashing all bandwidth costs at the international gateway level by 10 per cent,” he said.
Telecos will also get DWDM technology at the backbone level, cutting transmission costs by 39 per cent.
Taiyeb added that talks with mobile operators signal consumer prices could fall by up to 10 per cent.
He noted Bangladesh will link to the third submarine cable, SEA-ME-WE 6, by mid-2026.
