13% mobile network down in flood-hit areas, VSATs on standby

Information and Broadcasting Adviser Md Nahid Islam has said that 13 per cent of mobile network sites have been affected by the floods in Bangladesh. 

Additionally, the network has been disrupted in several upazilas due to damage to optical fibers.

To address the power outages in the affected areas, generators are being used to ensure continued power supply. 

The adviser has said that 10 VSATs are ready for deployment if the mobile network completely fails.

Nahid, who also serves as the adviser for posts, telecommunications, and information technology, has instructed relevant authorities to prioritise restoring mobile network services in the flood-affected regions.
