Punishment of those involved in making Doel laptop sought

Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar and State Minister for ICT Junaid Ahmed Palak have demanded the government punish those involved in making Doel laptops as the project failed.

The information was obtained from the minutes of the 10th meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Ministry held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban on Sunday.

According to the minutes, Palak in the earlier meeting (August 3) said a fair investigation should be to find out those responsible for the failure of the Doel laptop-making project inaugurated by the prime minister.

After that, echoing the statement of the state minister, Mustafa Jabbar asked the Posts and Telecommunications Division secretary to look into the matter.

Around 10 years ago, the Bangladesh government started production of its affordable laptop brand 'Doel' but the laptops lacked quality and subsequently manufacturing stopped.
