Opera India claims its browser saves over 4 crore

Opera India is claiming big savings from its Opera Mini browser for users. According to the company, the Opera Mini browser users in India saved over 40,000,000GB of data in one year, the total worth of which is around Rs 690 crore (at an estimated cost of Rs 173 per GB on an average).

In a study, the company has also revealed some statistics related to users’ searches, time spent on social accounts, popular content and more.

As per the Opera study, 8 out of 10 Opera Mini users search content on Google. ‘Although search websites experience a high amount of visitors, the number of search pages viewed account for only 10% of all pages.’

The company’s study claims that of all Opera Mini web pages visited by users, approximately 55% belong to social networking websites. Of these, most were Facebook pages.

Among the most popular content viewed by users, News stayed on top of the list. According to Opera, 31 news websites made to the list of top 100 most visited websites.

The study also claims that there has been a consistent rise in visits to Hindi language news websites.

The findings further reveal that out of top 100 websites visited by Opera Mini app users, 24 are download portals, of these 75% are for music. Some of the most visited websites include Mp3lio, Pagalworld, Webmusic, Raagtune and Mp3mad.

India, YouTube stays among the three most-visited websites along with Google and Facebook. In the video-streaming site list, Youtube is followed by Vuclip, Dailymotion and Hotstar.

Visits to e-commerce websites and other shopping portals have also been on the rise, as per the Opera report.
