Hackathon of NASA Space Apps Challenge Starts from Friday

For the second consecutive year, world’s largest hackathon competition ‘NASA Space Apps Challenge 2016’ organized by USA’s space agency NASA is being held in Bangladesh.

The Bangladesh chapter of the two-day hackathon will start from Friday in Independent University of Bangladesh (IUB) along with over 220 cities around the world.

Recently, final data boot camps were held in Dhaka, Chittagong and Sylhet. Top 50 teams from divisional levels are partaking in the final hackathon in Dhaka.

The winners at the final hackathon will get the opportunity to participate in the final challenge in NASA.

This year’s Bangladesh chapter of the hackathon will start at 8:30 AM, Friday and end with a closing ceremony and crest distribution on Saturday evening.

Zunaid Ahmaed Palak, State Minister, ICT Division will attend the closing ceremony as the Chief Guest.

Professor M Omar Rahman, Vice Chancellor, Independent University Bangladesh (IUB) will be present at the event as Special Guest. The event will be chaired by BASIS President Shameem Ahsan.

Ms. Ellen Stofan, Chief Scientist, NASA will connect through video conference during the event.

Like the last year Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) is the local host of the event. The competition will be supported by BASIS Students’ Forum and Cloud Camp Bangladesh; and sponsored by Bagdoom.com, Pbazaar.com and PeoplenTech.

Academic partners are Independent University of Bangladesh, Rajshahi University and Chittagong Independent University.
