BASIS delegates meet BB Governor

Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) have showed interest in supporting Bangladesh Bank to ensure optimum protection in cyber security. 

The support will be provided by BASIS member companies who specialize in this area and provide world-class services.

Besides enhancing cyber security, some recommendations were made in the meeting regarding IT industry development as well.

A BASIS delegation team led by President Shameem Ahsan met with Bangladesh Bank Governor Fazle Kabir on Monday.

SM Moniruzzaman, Executive Director, Bangladesh Bank; Uttam Kumar Paul, Secretary General, BASIS and Shah Imraul Kaeesh, Treasurer, BASIS were also present at the meeting.

Proposals to include suggestions made by BASIS in the draft Equity and Entrepreneurship Fund (EEF) Policy; to include payment provision for any associate fees related to internet marketing, affiliate marketing & search engine optimization (SEO) in the virtual card launched for online payment by individuals and companies, to create a minimum BDT 200 crore ‘ICT SME Fund’ and keep the interest rates low, and to take the annual international transactions by IT/Software companies from USD 20,000 to USD 50,000 were submitted to the Governor.

Fazle Kabir assured that all concerns raised by BASIS will be considered and immediately instructed the concern departments to do the needful.

He has also expressed his willingness to include BASIS in all future IT-related committees and projects of Bangladesh Bank.
