Google Doodle celebrates Bangladesh Independence Day

Search engine giant Google is celebrating the 48th Independence Day of Bangladesh with a special doodle.

The doodle, featuring the national flag of Bangladesh, has been seen above the search box on the homepage of Google since early Monday, March 26.

The Doodle logo is drawn in combination of red and green colours, which are the colours of the national flag of Bangladesh.

Doodles are the fun, surprising, and sometimes spontaneous changes that are made to the Google logo to celebrate holidays, anniversaries, and the lives of famous artists, pioneers, and scientists.

In 2013, Google, for the first time in its history, posted a special Doodle for Bangladesh on its 43th Independence Day.

On March 26, 1971, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman declared Bangladesh’s independence following the crackdown on unarmed Bangalis on March 25 midnight by the then Pakistan occupation army.

The day is a public holiday.
