Grameenphone gets new CFO

Country's leading mobile phone operator Grameenphone has appointed Karl Erik Broten as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), reports BSS.

The appointment of Karl Erik Broten will be effective from September 1, said a press release of the operator today.

He is replacing Dilip Pal, who will be joining DTAC, Telenor's operations in Thailand, as CFO.

Karl Erik Broten has been serving as CFO of Telenor's Malaysian operation DiGi before his appointment as the Grameenphone CFO.

Earlier, he was CFO at Telenor Pakistan and Telenor Hungary (formerly, Pannon GSM). With over 20 years of experience in Telenor Group, he has also held leadership positions in Telenor Norway, Telenor Business Solutions, and in Telenor-owned operations in Russia, among others.

"I'm excited to join the team, which has been delivering excellent results for a long time. As the market is gearing for another leap in technology, it would be an exciting journey," said GP's incoming CFO.

Karl holds a Degree in Business Administration based on a four year program (Sivilokonom), major area of study in International Management from Agder University college, Norway.

In addition, Mustafa Alim Aolad, Director, Financial Accounting and Reporting, has been appointed Deputy CFO. He joined Grameenphone in 2013 as Director, Corporate Finance and Treasury. He has long experience in senior positions in Banking and other financial sectors both home and abroad, including big name companies like KPMG, Barclays Bank, HSBC and AB Bank.
