Samsung gold Gear S2 will soon be available worldwide
South Korean tech giant Samsung on Monday announced their new Smart watch gold Gear S2 will be available worldwide early this year.
The Gear S2 Classic New Edition, unveiled at this year`s CES, comes in two finishes: 18-karat rose gold and platinum. The rose gold variant comes with an ivory leather band, and the platinum one with a black leather band.
Both the gold and the platinum versions have the same specs as the standard Gear S2 Classic, and the case is the same as well, rotating bezel and all. The new watches will, however, come with a trio of new watch faces matching the gold/platinum tones of the case.
The company did not provide a price for either version, but The Verge dug out some pre-order options, which price both variants at around $512.
While that`s nearly double the device`s base price of $299.99, it`s also far below the price of any of Apple`s gold Smart watches. This is less surprising when you consider the materials used: Apple Watch Edition`s case is solid gold, while Samsung`s Gear S2 Classic New Edition is gold or platinum-plated.
Still, the prices sound a little too good to be true, so we`ll wait for Samsung`s official word on this one.
Gold Gear S2 just became available in China.
