Govt wants to block Facebook every midnight

The government is planning to block popular social networking site Facebook for six hours starting from every midnight after considering the greater interest of the students.

The cabinet division sent a separate proposal to the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications and Ministry of Information in this regard on March 23.

In the proposal it is mentioned that it is “affecting the students” and “dimming the working capabilities of the youths”.

Dr. Faruk Ahmed, Deputy Secretary of the cabinet division, confirmed the matter to the Jagonews24.com.

In this connection, Tarana Halim, State Minister for Posts and Telecommunications, told Jagonews24.com that, “A letter about the matter has been received. Necessary steps will be taken after the discussion with the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
