Facebook are testing a `Dislike` button

Facebook are finally trialling a `dislike` button and quite controversially it`s not going to be on people`s posts like the world has been asking for.

The button will be trialled in the Messenger app as a reaction to people`s comments. They`re pitching it as a `no` button but it looks like a `dislike` to the rest of the world.

It was widely agreed that when the social media platform rolled out their reaction buttons on posts in late 2015, one seemed to missing - the hotly contested `dislike` button.

Even though the button is coming to people`s screens it will be featured in the app, allowing people to post a thumbs down amongst several other reactions.

Anyone who has used Slack knows that the in app comment reactions aren`t exactly new or revolutionary but Facebook has confirmed to TechCrunch they are giving it a go.

"We`re always testing ways to make Messenger more fun and engaging. This is a small test where we enable people to share an emoji that best represents their feelings on a message," they said to the technology news platform.

If you are wondering why there isn`t a thumbs down button in the news feed, it`s because Facebook thinks it would inject to much negativity which is totally fair enough.

What`s different about Messenger? They claim that the new reaction button in the app is actually a `no` button rather than a `dislike` to be used when trying to organise things.
