a2i wins Indian award for National Web Portal

Access to Information (a2i) Programme has been given President Award by the Open Group Forum of India for the National Web Portal of Bangladesh.

a2i Programme got the award in the Open Group Award for Innovation and Excellence-2017 competition held in Indian city of Bengaluru on Wednesday.

Director General (admin) of the Prime Minister`s Office and Project Director of a2i Programme Kabir Bin Anwar received the award on behalf of Bangladesh.

Different countries from Europe, Australia, Africa and Asia took part in the competition.

Bangladesh also won Award of Distinction in two other categories of the competition.

Receiving the award, Kabir Bin Anwar congratulated the architect of Digital Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her ICT Adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy for the success.

He said the dream of Digital Bangladesh is going to be true due to their tireless efforts and good intentions.

Bangladesh formally launched the National Web Portal, the world`s largest public web portal, on June 23 in 2014 on the occasion of the International Public Service Day.

Internationally reputed information technology expert and Prime Minister`s ICT Adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy inaugurated the web portal containing 43,000 websites of government organizations.

The world`s biggest web portal was developed in Bangla under the auspices and supervision of Access to Information (a2i) Programme under the Prime Minister`s Office and with the technical assistance of the UNDP and USAID.
