Tradeshi teams up with Alibaba for e-commerce
Local software and digital media firm Tradeshi has teamed up with China’s Alibaba.com as its e-commerce partner for Bangladesh.
The announcement came at a programme held at a gallery in the city’s Dhanmondi area on Wednesday. State Minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak addressed the event as the chief guest.
Through the use of Alibaba.com, Tradeshi Limited will develop digital export marketing capabilities of local enterprises, particularly small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
Addressing the event, the state minister said the day will be a memorable one in the e-commerce revolution in Bangladesh as a large window is opened to earn foreign currency with the launching of Tradeshi’s services.
At the programme, Jack Zhang, Alibaba.com’s director of strategy for business-to-business (B2B), in a video message said they have a plan to strengthen more than 5,000 SMEs in Bangladesh within the next three-five years to enable the enterprises do cross-border trade via e-commerce.
It is mentionable that, Alibaba.com has been used by a handful of successful Bangladeshi SMEs, large manufacturers and traders for over a decade for export promotion.
