Tamim reaches 9,000 run milestone
Tamim Iqbal has become first Bangladeshi batsman to score 9,000 runs in competitive cricket across all formats.
He reached the milestone in the first match of three One Day International series against Afghanistan.
Needing 15 runs to reach the landmark, Tamim reached the milestone with a flick for four from the bowling of Dawlat Zadran. He scored 80 off 98 balls before edging one to Naveen-ul-Haq off Mirwais Ashrafs’ bowling.
Tamim now has 9043 runs in 248 competitive matches, which includes 33 half century in ODIs. Earlier, Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza won the toss and elected to bat first.
