Maradona to play game for peace
Former soccer player Diego Armando Maradona confirmed on Saturday that he would play the next Game for Peace, promoted by a foundation boosted by Pope Francis.
I am inviting people to make their small contribution on October 12, at the Game for Peace, said Maradona in a message circulated by organizers.
Other world soccer stars, such as Brazilians Ronaldo de Assis Moreira ‘Ronaldinho’ and Roberto Carlos da Silva, and Argentinian Hernan Crespo have already confirmed their participation.
Coach Fabio Capello will be with them, together with Italians Antonio Di Natale and Gianluca Zambrotta, in the game at the Olympic Stadium of Rome, under the motto ‘United by Peace.’
This is the second charity game organized by Scholas Occurrentes (Schools for Encounter) Foundation, an organization boosted by Pope Francis to promote development of young people through sports, arts and education.
