I stayed at Barcelona: Neymar
The past summer was one of contrast for Neymar, who faced numerous questions over his future in between major titles with Barcelona and the Brazilian Olympic football team.
Paris Saint-Germain were at the front of the queue for the winger, putting a 40 million euro five-year contract in front of Neymar, who was reportedly tempted by the prospect of moving to France.
‘Yes, we had many conversations with many people,’ the 24-year-old told the assembled press. ‘It was not just one.
‘But I chose to stay at Barcelona because I feel at home and am very happy here, with my teammates and with my life here.
‘I do not see [my future] outside of Barcelona, I cannot imagine that. I hope to help the team more and more.’
Part of the problem for Neymar is the continued presence of Lionel Messi, who is assured of the limelight at the Camp Nou, a fact which the Brazilian claims doesn’t bother him.
‘It’s very easy to play with [Messi] and we understand each other very well on the pitch,’ added Neymar.
‘It’s about companionship, we talk a lot and he knows when myself or Luis Suarez can join in.’
Helping himself to a goal and four assists against Celtic in midweek, next up for Barcelona and Neymar is a trip to LaLiga newboys Leganes on Saturday.
