Cricketer Shahadat on 3-day remand
A Dhaka court placed suspended National Cricket Team player Shahadat Hossain on a three-day remand in a case filed for torturing his 11-year-old domestic help.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Yusuf Hossain passed the order on Thursday noon.
Earlier on October 6, Shafiqur Rahman, officer-in-charge (investigation) of Mirpur Model Police and also the investigation officer of the case, sought a seven-day remand for Shahadat Hossain in the case.
On October 5, the court sent Shahadat to jail after rejecting the bail petition when he surrendered before it.
On October 4, police arrested Nitto Shahadat, wife of Sahadat Hossain, from Pabna Lane at Malibagh in the capital in connection with the case.
Later, a court sent her to jail rejecting her bail petition as well as the remand petition by the police.
Earlier on September6, Mahfuza Akhter Happy, 11, the domestic help of Shahadat’s residence, was found lying injured on a road in Sangbadik Colony area at Pallabi in Dhaka.
