Conor McGregor jokes he’d ‘slap the head off’ of Ronaldo
Sports can sometimes give us unlikely pairings and friendships. For instance, who would have thought that Justin Bieber and Floyd Mayweather Jr. would be tight, or that Dennis Rodman and Kim Jong Un would kick it?
Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo and UFC Featherweight champion Conor McGregor fall on that list of unexpected compadres.
Their friendship blossomed in the public eye when Ronald posted a picture of the two pillars of their respective sports sparring in an octagon a few weeks ago.
McGregor addressed their growing camaraderie ahead of this Saturday’s massive bout in UFC 202.
‘... He’s a nice guy, he’s some shape. He went more abs, I went more lats,’ McGregor said of Ronaldo in an interview with BT Sport.
The UFC star even has the I-can-say-that-because-he’s-my-friend banter down pat:‘I’d slap the head off him but he’s a very nice guy and he was in tremendous shape, he’s a true athlete.’
So, just in case the absurd thought of Ronaldo legitimately squaring off against McGregor crossed your mind, you now know how it’d turn out.
McGregor would slap Ronaldo’s head off, then the two would probably go work out.
While Ronaldo prepares for the upcoming soccer season, McGregor is busy training for Saturday night, where he will try and avenge his UFC 196 loss in a rematch with Nate Diaz.
No word on if McGregor plans to slap Diaz’s head off, but it`ll certainly be worth watching to find out.
