Bangladesh nat’l team selector Hannan Sarkar resigns

Hannan Sarkar, a selector for the Bangladesh national cricket team, has resigned while the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) is still ongoing. He submitted his resignation letter to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Saturday night.
Sarkar stated that he no longer wishes to be involved in the team selection process, but expressed interest in taking up a coaching role in the future if given the opportunity.
Despite his resignation, Sarkar will continue as a selector until February. From March onwards, the BCB will need to appoint a replacement.
Sarkar was appointed as an assistant to chief selector Gazi Ashraf Hossain Lipu on February 12, 2024, stepping down just a year into his role. His contract with the BCB was initially set to run until 2026.
Before joining the national team, the former cricketer worked with Bangladesh’s age-level teams. He also served as the selector for the U-19 team, which won the 2020 U-19 World Cup under his supervision.
