Ashraful returns in cricket after 3 years
Former Bangladesh cricket superstar Mohammed Ashraful will return from England on Saturday as a relieved but confused man following contradictory statements regarding his eligibility in the Bangladesh Premier League.
Ashraful’s three-year ban will go today and the International Cricket Council (ICC) gave clarification certificate to Ashraful. And so, he is eligible to play NCL, BPL, DPL, BCL like domestic tournament from now.
Ashraful, who is now 32-year-old, was accused of spot and match-fixing scam during the second edition of the money-rich Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) in 2013.
Anti-corruption tribunal formed by Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) initially banned Ashraful for 8 years with Tk 10 lakh (USD12,500 approx) as fine for his wrongdoing in BPL-2 in June 2014.
Thereafter, his ban was reduced to five years with two-year suspension subject to his participation in BCB and ICC anti-corruption education and training programme following his appeal in September at that year.
