Bangladesh all out for 233 runs after Mominul's century
Bangladesh was bowled out for 233 runs in their first innings of the Kanpur Test, with Mominul Haque finishing unbeaten on 107 runs.
On Monday, Bangladesh began the fourth day's play at 107 for 3, but struggled to make significant progress in the sunny conditions at Green Park.
Mushfiqur Rahim was dismissed after adding just 5 runs to his overnight score. The right-handed batsman, who resumed play with 6 runs, was bowled by Jasprit Bumrah for a total of 11 runs.
Mominul and Liton Das attempted to stabilize the innings, but Liton couldn’t last long. He was caught by Rohit Sharma at mid-off off Mohammad Siraj after scoring 13 runs from 30 balls, which included 3 fours.
Shakib Al Hasan also fell victim to Siraj, caught off Ravichandran Ashwin for 9 runs off 17 balls. Shakib hit a four off the previous delivery before being dismissed on the next ball.
While Mushfiqur, Liton, and Shakib lost their wickets, Mominul held firm at the other end, eventually scoring his 13th Test century. This marked his first three-figure score in 15 months and his second Test century outside Bangladesh, following his first in Pallekele, Sri Lanka, in April 2021. He ended his innings unbeaten with 107 runs off 194 balls.
Mehdi Hasan Miraj contributed 20 runs off 42 balls before being caught at slip by Shubman Gill off a Bumrah delivery clocked at 141.5 kilometers per hour. Bumrah then dismissed Taijul Islam for 5 runs off 8 balls. Hasan Mahmud was LBW to Siraj for just 1 run off 4 balls.
Bangladesh's first innings concluded with the wicket of Khaled Ahmed, bowled by Ravindra Jadeja.
