Black soil Kanpur pitch ready for Bangladesh
For the first time, Bangladesh will play in Kanpur, the commercial capital of Uttar Pradesh, India. The Tigers will take on India in the final Test of the two-match series at Green Park Stadium this Friday. The match will begin at 10:00am.
After playing on a red soil surface in Chennai, Bangladesh is set for a new experience in Kanpur, where India has prepared a black soil surface for Nazmul Hossain Shanto's team.
Black clay pitches, a staple of Kanpur, are traditionally low and slow, making batting more manageable.
Rain might play a role in the game as well. The pitch at Green Park tends to get muddy in wet conditions, and forecasts by AccuWeather predict rain on the first two days, gradually decreasing afterward. If the forecast holds, Green Park might earn a new nickname due to the challenging conditions.
While this will be Bangladesh's first match in Kanpur, India has played 23 Tests here, winning 7 and losing 3, with 13 matches ending in a draw. Despite India's familiarity with the venue, Kanpur has not seen many outright victories.
