Bangladesh announce squad for India test series with one change
The much-anticipated squad announcement for Bangladesh's two-match Test series against India has been made, with only one change from the team that recently whitewashed Pakistan.
Pacer Shoriful Islam has been ruled out due to injury, and wicketkeeper-batsman Zaker Ali Anik has been included in his place.
Under the leadership of Nazmul Hossain Shanto, Bangladesh secured a dominant series win over Pakistan, claiming victories by 10 wickets in the first Test and by 6 wickets in the second.
Shoriful, who played in the first Test, was sidelined for the second match due to injury, with Taskin Ahmed stepping in as his replacement. Unfortunately, Shoriful's injury has not healed in time for the India tour.
Interestingly, instead of replacing Shoriful with another pacer, the team management opted to bring in an additional batter, which may suggest the need for extra batting depth on the challenging Indian pitches.
The squad retains key players from the Pakistan series, including the experienced Mushfiqur Rahim, Liton Das, and all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, along with spin specialists Taijul Islam and Nayeem Hasan.
The full squad for the India series is as follows: Nazmul Hossain Shanto (Captain), Sadman Islam, Zakir Hasan, Muminul Haque, Mushfiqur Rahim, Shakib Al Hasan, Liton Das, Mehdi Hasan Miraj, Zaker Ali Anik, Taskin Ahmed, Hasan Mahmud, Nahid Rana, Taijul Islam, Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Nayeem Hasan, and Khaled Ahmed.
The inclusion of Zaker Ali Anik suggests a strategy focused on bolstering the batting lineup for the upcoming series against a formidable Indian side.
