Tigresses to face off India to confirm Asia Cup final
In a bid to confirm the final of the Women's Asia Cup, Bangladesh will take on mighty Indian Women's team in the first semifinal on Friday at Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium.
India moved to the semifinal by winning all of their matches including against archrivals Pakistan in Group A. Bangladesh, meanwhile, became group runners-up to make the cut in the last-four stage.
The Tigresses beat Thailand by seven wickets and crushed Malaysia by 114 runs but lost to hosts Sri Lanka by seven wickets in their first match.
Bangladesh's T20 record against India is dismal one as they won just three while lost 19 matches but despite that Bangladesh oozed with confidence to beat India, largely because of their inspiring performance in the last two years.
In those matches in the last two years, Bangladesh pushed India vehemently before losing the match which gave them a confidence that they have the ability to beat India.
Bangladesh will largely depend on the performance of captain Nigar Sultana Joty and opener Murshida Khatun to give them a good total while in bowling Rabeya Khatun and Nahida Akter have been consistent so far.
Joty scored 236 runs in the last 10 matches and Murshida followed her with 208 runs in eight matches. Rabeya meanwhile took 14 wickets in nine matches and Nahida grabbed 13 wickets in 10 matches.
