Suarez relieved Liverpool match just a friendly
With Barcelona set to face off against Liverpool at a packed Wembley Stadium, ex-Kop idol Luis Suarez said that meeting his former side in competitive action would be tough emotionally but that he’s savouring this coming contest.
This time the game forms part of the pre-season International Champions Cup series, something the player much prefers given the unofficial nature of the fixture.
‘I’m just glad that it’s a friendly because if we met in the Champions League or some other competition it would be really difficult for me,’ he said.
‘I still have friends there so it is a nice time to return to play against Liverpool, and for players it’s always a dream to turn out in front of 90,000 fans and some of the world’s greatest supporters.
‘Liverpool has formed such an important part of my life and that of my family- my second son was born here.’
The player also praised the Reds’ current manager Jurgen Klopp. ‘They’ve done really well under him, so I think this season the goal for Klopp is the top four.’
