India Women's captain suspended for two games

India Women's skipper Harmanpreet Kaur has been suspended by the ICC for the next two international games following two separate breaches of the ICC Code of Conduct during the final ODI against Bangladesh recently.

Harmanpreet was first fined 50 percent of her match fee and received three demerit points for a Level 2 offence for showing dissent at an umpire's decision. The incident occurred in the 34th over of the Indian innings after the 34-year-old smashed the stumps with the bat after being adjudged out by the on-field umpire.

The second breach was during the presentation ceremony after the game in which Harmanpreet criticised the umpiring in the game. She was fined 25% of her match fee and received one demerit point for this offence. As a result, she ended up accommodating four demerit points that convert into two suspension points which result in a player getting banned for one Test or two ODIs or two T20Is, whatever comes first for the player.

As revealed by Cricbuzz earlier, this suspension means that Harmanpreet will be missing India's first two games in the Asian Games scheduled to begin in September. India has directly qualified for the quarterfinals based on their rankings and Harmanpreet will miss that clash and the semifinal if India gets that far.
