Tigresses suffer 7-wicket defeat to Sri Lanka in 2nd T20

Bangladesh women's team squandered the opportunity to seal the three-match T20 International series against Sri Lanka after suffering a seven-wicket defeat in the second match at Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC) on Thursday.

The Tigresses failed to show the same intensity which they displayed in the first game to beat the Lankan by six wickets.

Put into bat first in the second match, they were bowled out for a meager 100 in 18.3 overs after demonstrating a wretched batting show.

Opener Shamima Sultana and No.3 batter Sobhana Mostary were the highest run-getter for the side with identical 18 runs. Another opener Rubya Haider added 16 and Murshida Khatun scored 14. Apart from the quartet, no one could reach double digit figure.

Sri Lankan women's team, however, needed to play 18.3 overs to reach the victory mark with captain Chamari Atapattu leading the way with 27 ball-33, hitting six fours and one six. Harshita Samarawickrama was not out on 29 and helped the side seal the deal as Bangladeshi bowlers put up a disciplined bowling show to strangle the hosts at halfway through the innings. But that mattered little at the end.

Kavisha Dilhari also contributed in the victory with 18 ball-20 (not out).

Fahima Khatun was the pick of Bangladesh bowler with 2-16 while Rabeya Khan picked up 1-11.
