Evergreen Mashrafe leads rout of Mohammedan with five-for
Mashrafe Bin Mortaza continued to do things beyond imagination even though he has left his best in cricket a long time ago.
He put up yet another astounding performance to lead Legends of Rupganj to a 10-wicket victory over Mohammedan Sporting Club in the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) at BKSP-3 ground on Monday, reports BSS.
Despite the pace being waned, he baffled the batters with his intelligent bowling to finish with an epic figure of 8.4-3-17-5 that was instrumental in wrapping up Mohammedan Sporting Club innings for just 80 runs in 22.4 overs.
Rupganj raced to the victory in 8.2 overs, making 84 for no loss. They brought up the victory in just 34 minutes. In terms of ball being left and the minutes, it was comfortably the quickest ever victory in the DPL history.
Put into bat first, Mohammedan though lost opener Mohidul Islam Ankan for duck, they still got going well thanks to Soumya Sarkar who put the bowlers in sword to score runs in quick pace.
Offspinner Sohag Gazi dismissed Soumya after he hit 41 off 26 with eight fours, which eventually became the team-high and one of the two scores, crossing single digit mark. Imrul Kayes was the other batter to reach double digit mark with 11.
Mashrafe who came into bowl as the fourth bowler got into act immediately as he sliced Mohammedan's middle order, bowling with just one or two steps with unthreatening pace. But still his shrewd thinking left the batters baffled as he completed five-wicket haul effortlessly.
Rupganj's two openers completed the chase in stunning fashion to give the side a quickest ever victory. Parvez Hossain Emon hammered 21 ball-44 with four fours and as many sixes and Munim Shahriar scored 30 off 29 with four fours and one six as Rupganj clinched its fifth straight victory in DPL.
