Shakib, Tamim continue to embrace onfield camaraderie
Ahead of the third ODI against England that Bangladesh won, captain Tamim Iqbal caught every onlooker's attention as he called on Shakib Al Hasan to take a look at the pitch, which was in focus in the lead-up to the fixture. Heads turned to the duo because BCB president Nazmul Hasan had revealed in an interview with Cricbuzz that the two stalwarts aren't on talking terms off the field.
Tamim had to field questions based on the revelation and didn't deny them as rumours. He opined there was no problem as long as they did their jobs professionally on the field and stressed on the fact that their motive on the field mattered most. This is not the first time that two leading cricketers of an international side don't see eye to eye, and it certainly won't be the last time.
The latest interaction was not the first one during the ODI series against England, as the pair were seen talking during the first net session ahead of the series when they batted together.
Bangladesh chief selector Minhajul Abedin and his colleague Habibul Bashar joined Shakib, Tamim and head coach Chamika Hathurusingha when the trio were discussing about the wicket in Chattogram ahead of the third ODI, and according to Minhajul, everything is fine between Tamim and Shakib as far as cricket is concerned.
"They were giving their inputs about the wicket during the discussion and it was fine between them. What I feel is that they are exchanging their views about making plans and other things as well regarding the series and that is good enough for us," Minhajul told Cricbuzz.
"I think both of them are professionals and well aware about their responsibilities towards the team and that is all that matters because honestly speaking I have not seen any one of them not coming forward when the other needs him on the field or while making plans for a game and I think that is the most important thing," he said.
