Tigresses end T20 WC mission empty-handed
The Bangladesh Women's team ended their T20 World Cup mission empty-handed after suffering a humiliating 10-wicket defeat to South Africa in their last group match at Cape Town in South Africa on Tuesday.
Coming here to win at least a couple matches, they found them in wrong side in every match they played this time. They lost their first game to Sri Lanka by seven wickets, then tasted an eight-wicket defeat to Australia, 71-run defeat to New Zealand and now in the last match, came up with their worst ever performance.
Electing to bat first, Bangladesh women's team was restricted to 113-6 with Captain Nigar Sultana Joty making the highest 30. Sobhana Mostary made 27 while Nahida Akter was the other notable contributor with 15 not out.
Marizanne Kapp and Ayabonga Khaka claimed two wickets apiece for South Africa.
South Africa raced to the victory with 13 balls to spare, making 117 for no loss. Laura Wolvaardt made highest 66 off 56, hitting seven fours and one six. Her fellow opener Tazmin Brits was not out on 50 off 51, sending the ball across the ropes for four times.
