Comilla opts to bowl first in BPL final against Sylhet
Comilla Victorians opted to bowl first after winning the toss in the much-anticipated Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) final against Sylhet Strikers at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Thursday, reports BSS.
Imrul Kayes-led side however is aiming to be the most successful team in the BPL history. Currently they have three titles at their disposal, the joint-most with Dhaka franchise who also won the same number of trophies under the name of Dhaka Gladiators and Dhaka Dynamites.
Sylhet franchise on the other hand would play any BPL final for the first time and wants to create a history, emboldened by an inspiring Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, the most successful captain in the tournament's history.
Mashrafe won the final as a captain for four times with different franchises and never lost any final.
Comilla however had the edge over Sylhet, having won four matches in the last five encounters. In this season, Comilla won twice against Sylhet, including the first Qualifier.
After losing three matches in a row, Comilla won 10 matches at a stretch to create a new record in the tournament's history.
However ahead of the most crucial game, they wanted the 'law of average' not affected them as they need to keep the winning streak for one more match to clinch the title for the second time in a row.
