Dowry case: Cricketer Al-Amin gets anticipatory bail
Bangladesh national cricket team player Al-Amin Hossain has been given an anticipatory bail for eight weeks in a case filed for harassment and demanding dowry.
A bench of the High Court Justice Md Rezaul Hasan and Justice Md Atabullah passed the order on Tuesday.
The court also asked him to surrender before Dhaka Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal after eight weeks.
Al-Amin’s lawyer Barrister Md Ashraful Islam confirmed the matter to Jago News.
His wife Israt had filed a written complaint with Mirpur police station and later police registered it as a case on Thursday night.
In the written complaint, Israt said that she had been tortured by Al-Amin for dowry.
She said that on the night of August 25, Al-Amin returned home and asked if she had brought Tk 20 lakh as dowry.
Al-Amin started beating Israt badly when she said that it was not possible for her father to give him so much money.
Israt mentioned in the complaint that she had been physically and mentally abused many times in the past by her husband.
Israt spoke to the media after complaining to the police station and said that Al-Amin had often tortured her for dowry and threatened to divorce her.
He often brings a girl home. He claimed that he had married that girl. But he didn’t get permission from his wife.
