Maradona’s life story to become TV series
A television series inspired by the life of the legendary footballer Diego Maradona has been given the green light and is set to be shown worldwide.
The ex-footballer has signed a contract with the Argentine TV channel Telefe for the biopic series to be produced with a view to marketing it overseas.
You could write a hundred episodes for every month of my life, it goes way beyond anything you could make up, Maradona said in the TV company’s announcement of the project.
‘Happy and enthusiastic,’ was how they described Argentina’s 1986 World Cup-winning captain at the prospect, adding that the programme would be an ‘unprecedented super-production.’
Now 55 years old, Maradona was born in Villa Fiorito, a poor suburb of Buenos Aires, and made his Argentine First Division debut at 15, before embarking on a career that led him to be recognised as the greatest player in the world and achieve a level of fame arguably never seen before in football.
