Messi, Ronaldo rank in top 10 of Forbes’ Global Celebrity 100
Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are two of the world’s most successful athletes, but according to Forbes, they also rank among the top 10 of the world`s highest-paid celebrities.
Ronaldo, fresh off winning the European Championship with Portugal, is tied for No. 4 overall (and tops among athletes) with TV personality Dr. Phil McGraw in Forbes magazine’s Global Celebrity 100.
That ranking comes thanks to $88 million in earnings between June 2015 and June 2016, combining salary and endorsements. Messi is not far behind at No. 8, at $81.5 million.
Overall, singer Taylor Swift tops the list at $170 million, followed by boy band One Direction at $110 million.
Other highly ranked athletes include LeBron James (No. 11, $77 million) and Roger Federer (No. 16, $68 million).
Kevin Durant and Novak Djokovic are tied at No. 26 at $56 million, sharing the ranking with Justin Bieber and Kenny Chesney.
