Brutal Bayern knock Barca out of the Champions League

Barcelona's Champions League campaign has come to a premature end after the Catalans fell to another humbling 3-0 loss away to Bayern Munich on Wednesday night.

The Catalans' loss and Benfica's win over Dynamo Kiev saw the Portuguese side advance at the expense of Xavi Hernandez's men, who were given more to worry about as Jordi Alba was forced off injured in the first half.

With the scores still locked at 0-0, Alba pulled up with what looked to be a hamstring problem as he cleared the ball to deny Robert Lewandowski a chance to score.

Thomas Muller had said prior to the game that he would look to avenge the Ballon d'Or results - believing that teammate Lewandowski was deserving - against the Catalans and did just that as he opened the scoring on the end of an assist from the No.9.

Leroy Sane made it two before the break. Kingsley Coman teed up the former Manchester City man who took a tough and then fired into Marc-Andre ter Stegen's top corner, leaving his compatriot helpless in goal.

Bayern kept coming at Barcelona though and Jamal Musiala added a third shortly after the hour mark. Alphonso Davies did well to leave Ronald Araujo all tied up before pulling back for Musiala to finish with relative ease.

Bayern advance as group winners with six wins from six, with Ajax and Liverpool also having progressed with 100 percent records.
