Afridi completes five-for after Liton fifty; Pakistan need 202
Shaheen Afridi brought Pakistan back into the Chattogram Test with a hostile five-wicket haul, the fourth of his career, as the home side set 202 for Pakistan to win.
Afridi backed up his third evening top-order burst with two more in the second session on the fourth day. He took out Liton Das, Bangladesh's last remaining batter who top scored with 59, with a delivery that struck him in front of the stumps. Liton hit six fours in his 89-ball knock that gave Bangladesh a chance in the remainder of the game.
There was a flurry of boundaries in the post-lunch session before Nurul Hasan, on as a concussion substitute for Yasir Ali, holed out in the deep. Liton fell, before Abu Jayed and Taijul Islam capitulated quickly.
Bangladesh's second innings was off to a bad start on the third evening when they lost their top four batters for just 25 runs. Afridi blew away Shadman Islam, Najmul Hossain Shanto and Saif Hassan in an intense first spell. Shadman was trapped lbw, Shanto edging to slip, before Saif was undone by a short ball at his body.
On the fourth morning, Hasan dismissed Mushfiqur Rahim with one that nipped in from outside offstump, only for the batter to shoulder arms and hear his off stump ripped out.
Liton and Yasir consolidated for around 11 overs before Afridi hit the latter's helmet with a bouncer. Yasir walked off after seven balls for scans, with Nurul taking his place. Sajid Khan had Mehidy Hasan lbw for 11, as Bangaldesh headed to lunch 159 runs in the lead.
Afridi finished with 5-32 to go with his ten-wicket haul against West Indies in Pakistan's last Test. Sajid took three wickets while Hasan Ali had two.
