Happy Birthday Messi

This Wednesday, ahead of Argentina’s Copa America final against Chile and Messi’s latest opportunity to win his first major trophy for his country, the little magician is celebrating his 29th birthday.

He will celebrate it in USA, where he is taking part in the Copa America, with a double wish: to win the competition with Argentina and to be able to finally start his holiday.

He will spend it away from his closest friends and family, but in the company of many others and with the affection of thousands of people who will send him messages through soical media.

Messi reaches 29 in an extraordinary moment, both in terms of his sporting career and away from the football pitch. On an individual level, he has completed a brilliant year with Barça.

On a collective level, he has won the treble. And on a personal level, he will become a father for the second time soon. This Copa America, if he wins it, will be the cherry on the top of a magnificent cake.

And if it is not won, even though there will be a lot of criticism in Argentina, for the Barcelona fans he will still be a unique footballer and an example to everyone who gets to enjoy watching him every 15 days at Camp Nou, and then even more often on television.

Every June 24 is Messi’s birthday and Barça have been fortunate enough to watch him grow, mature and to give authentic performances of brilliance with the ball at his feet.

Leo is happy and all cules should be happy as well. And our first wish must be that Leo Messi sees many more birthdays; that while his body is capable of pulling on the blaugrana shirt, that we can witness it; and that when the day comes to retire, he does so with great memories of FC Barcelona.
