Cricketers undergo corona test for Windies series

The cricketers who were called up for the preliminary squad in the home series against West Indies underwent a Covid-19 test on Thursday, reports BSS.

The result will be available tonight and those who will return negative will check-in to Pan Pacific Sonargaon, where the biosecure bubble was created, tomorrow (Friday).

Apart from the cricketers, coaching staff, supporting staff and even the staff of Pan Pacific Sonargaon and grounds staff of Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium will be tested gradually.

The sample was collected from the players’ respective home. Some of the players’ samples were collected from the National Cricket Academy as they are staying here currently.

However, Test captain Mominul and off-spinner Nayeem Hasan will not enter the bio-secure zone at the team hotel right now. Both of them have injury problems so they can join the team hotel once they recover fully.

Head coach Russell Domingo, his compatriot fielding coach Ryan Cook and pace bowling coach Otis Gibson will arrive in Dhaka on January 8 (Friday). They will also enter into the bio-bubble after the Corona test.

The practice of the national team starts on January 10, also the day when the West Indies will arrive in Bangladesh for two Tests and three-match ODI series.
