Ex-footballer Badal Roy dies of liver cancer

Former star player of the national football team Badal Roy died of liver cancer in a Dhaka hospital on Sunday evening. He aged 60. 

He breathed his last at around 5:35pm at Bangladesh Medical College Hospital in Dhanmondi while undergoing treatment.

Earlier on November 5, the iconic footballer was admitted to Intensive Care Unit of Asgar Ali Hospital after he had fell sick seriously.

On November 11, he was shifted at ICU of Square Hospital where the doctors said he had liver cancer.

Later, he was admitted to Bangladesh Medical College Hospital for better treatment but he died there.

Badal played in Bangladesh national team from 1981 to 1986 and in Mohammedan Sporting Club from 1977 to 1989. He celebrated five league trophies with the Dhaka's Motijheel based club.

He served Bangladesh Football Federation as its joint secretary, and vice president, and had recently contested for president post of BFF but conceded defeat to Kazi Md Salahuddin.
