Modric will do anything to stay at Real

Luka Modric is a real Real Madrid player.

The Croatian was born in Zadar, raised at Dinamo Zagreb and excelled at Tottenham, but it was at Real Madrid that he received the attention and recognition that he has deserved.

Since arriving in the Spanish capital, Modric has developed a special affection for the team, club and city.

Modric's contract at Real Madrid ends on June 30, 2021, but he is desperate to extend his stay at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu and see out his playing days with Los Blancos.

So keen is he to remain at the club, he's willing to do whatever it takes, even to accept a lower salary to stay beyond next summer.

The midfielder and his family want to stay in the city. His life has been built there and he feels comfortable.

No doubts

Modric wants to stay at Real Madrid.

He believes that he is still able to contribute to a high level and he has shown that so far this season.

The club's hierarchy are yet to make any concrete decisions about his future, nor have they even held any meetings with the player, as is the case with Sergio Ramos and Lucas Vazquez as well.

The Croatian has said to COPE's El Partidazo that he wants to stay on at the club for another year before ending his career at 36.

With the Qatar World Cup also on the horizon, Modric has all the more incentive to stay in a stable environment to take him through to one final tournament with Croatia, although that will be played in November and December of 2022.

Total respect

There has been nothing but respect for Modric since he's been at the club from all of his coaches.

Even Carlo Ancelotti has said that if he hadn't fallen injured during his second season in charge then Los Blancos could have won consecutive Champions League titles.

Jose Mourinho was key in his signing, which the player has admitted, and he has also praised Zinedine Zidane as well.
