Opinions split in Barca boardroom
The Barcelona boardroom are still at odds over the future of Leo Messi just days before Josep Maria Bartomeu and the player's father Jorge are due to meet.
The club has made it clear that Messi will not be sold unless a club is willing to pay the release clause set out in his contract which is 700 million euros.
However, not all members of the Blaugrana board are happy with this and believe that the most logical approach is selling the Argentine for a realistic fee, considering the player has already handed in a transfer request.
If the club stuck by the 700 million euros release clause, it would ultimately mean Messi would grow more and more irritated at the club and would leave next year on a free transfer.
On the other hand, the sale of Messi would help the precarious financial situation that the club finds itself in due to the coronavirus pandemic and both the club and the Argentiean could part ways amicably.
It seems clear that nobody involved with Barcelona wants Messi to leave but accepting his departure would prove to be an economic boost for the club, who could then use the money to prepare for life after the No.10.
Whatever happens, Bartomeu will need to find a solution quickly before the arrival of Jorge Messi.
