Kusal Mendis arrested following fatal car crash

Kusal Mendis, the Sri Lankan cricketer, has been arrested for running over a 64-year old man on a cycle, who eventually succumbed to his injuries and passed away, reports Cricbuzz.
The incident happened in Panadura, south of Colombo, early on Sunday (July 5) morning. Mendis's SUV has also been taken into police custody.
SSP Jaliya Senaratne, the police spokesperson, confirmed the news of Mendis' arrest. Mendis has already been attended to by a doctor for an examination and will be produced before a local magistrate in the next 48 hours.
The 25-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman, who has represented Sri Lanka in 44 Tests, 76 ODIs and 26 T20Is, was part of the Sri Lankan squad that underwent a training camp in Pallekele earlier in the week.
