The auction was conducted through ‘Auction 4 Action’, a Bangladesh based charity organisation.
The steel bracelet had a base price of Tk 500,000.
The auction began on Sunday morning and Bangladesh Leasing and Finance Companies Association (BLFCA) bought the bracelet for Tk 42 lakh in the early hours of Monday.
Mominul Islam, the chairman of the company, took part in the auction on their behalf.
Speaking live Mominul Islam said, “We bought the bracelet for 40 lakhs. But with that we will give 5 percent more. In other words, we will pay a total of 42 lakhs. However, we like to gift the bracelet to Mashrafe again. The bracelet of our favorite captain will be with him. If the situation is normal, we will hand over the bracelet to Mashrafe by a formal ceremony.”
Mashrafe said, “Many people think that the bracelet is silver. But it is a steel bracelet. My very favorite. The entire money from the sale of this bracelet will be spent on people affected by the coronavirus. Not only Narail, I will try to help in different parts of the country outside Narail.”
