Pakistan set England target of 349

Pakistan have set England a mammoth target of 349 in their World Cup clash at Trent Bridge.

Sent in by England, Pakistan produced a vastly improved performance after their opening defeat to post 8-348, led by Mohammad Hafeez (84 from 62), Babar Azam (63 off 66) and captain Sarfaraz Ahmed (55 from 44), reports Reuters.

For England, it was a below-par performance in the field with several dropped catches but given Trent Bridge's batting-friendly reputation, they'll be backing themselves to reach what would be a record chase in a World Cup.

Earlier, England won the toss and elected to bowl first.

The hosts, coming off an emphatic win over South Africa in the tournament opener, made just one change to the XI that defeated the Proteas - paceman Mark Wood comes in Liam Plunkett. 

For Pakistan, they have made two changes to the side that was thrashed by the West Indies last Friday, with Haris Sohail and Imad Wasim making way for Shoaib Malik and Asif Ali.

The toss could prove crucial as England have not lost a game batting second at home since 2015.

"It looks a very good wicket - the dimensions of the ground are smaller than The Oval, so you have to take that into account when posting or chasing a score," England captain Eoin Morgan told BBC Radio.
