Indian captain Kohli casts his vote in Gurugram
Polling is underway in as many as 59 constituencies across India including national capital Delhi in the sixth phase of the 2019 Lok Sabha election. Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli also cast his vote in Gurugram on Sunday.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) skipper cast his vote in a polling booth along with his brother and urged the countrymen to use their power and vote in the ongoing elections.
Ten Lok Sabha seats in Haryana went to the polls on Sunday in the penultimate phase of the ongoing Lok Sabha elections. Kohli, who is currently on a break away from cricket after his team RCB were ousted early from the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019, will join the rest of the Indian team when they leave for England for the upcoming World Cup after the conclusion of the IPL.
Kohli was seen standing in the queue as he waited for his turn to cast his vote. He later took to Twitter to share a picture of his inked figure after casting his vote and urged the public to go out and vote. "Voting is your right and responsibility towards nation building. Go vote," he wrote on Twitter.
The prolific right-hander had a forgettable season in the IPL this season as his team failed to make it to the playoffs for yet another season. RCB were the first team to bow out of the competition after managing to win just five out of their 14 games. Kohli had a fine season with the bat but failed to turn up as a captain.
Kohli amassed 464 runs in 14 games for RCB this season at an average of 33.14 including two fifties and a solitary hundred. However, bowling woes once again got better of RCB in the long run as the Kohli-led side finished on the bottom of the table, drawing curtains to another dismal season.
