West Indies opt to bat first against Tigers
West Indies captain Jason Holder won the toss and opted to bat first against Bangladesh in their second match of the tri-nations series at the Castle Avenue in Dublin, Ireland today.
With this match Bangladesh is set to begin their tri-series campaign, a tournament which is seen as the preparation camp for the ensuing ICC Cricket World Cup in England and Wales, reports BSS.
West Indies got off to a good start in the tournament, having thrashed hosts Ireland by 196 runs with openers John Campbell and Shai Hope putting on world record 365 runs for the opening stand. Campbell who hammered 179 in that match was ruled out of match against Bangladesh with sore back.
Shane Dowrich replaced him and is the only change that West Indies made from their previous match.
Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, who didn’t play the practice match against Ireland Wolves, returned to the fold to lead the side along with Mustafizur Rahman and Saifuddin who replaced Taskin Ahmed and Farhad Reza respective from the practice game.
While their inclusion was expected, the surprising was the omission of Liton Das as the management gave Somua Sarkar a chance to open with Tamim Iqbal.
Bangladesh lost to Ireland Wolves by 88 runs in their only practice game.
