Mashrafe reaches another milestone
Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza touched new height, reaching the milestone of 400 wickets in List A cricket when he claimed 3-40 for Abahani Limited in their crucial match against archrivals Mohammedan Sporting Club in the Super League phase of Dhaka Premier League (DPL) today, reports BSS.
Mashrafe’s bowling was key in Abahani’s 45-run win against Mohammedan as they remained firm in the race of clinching the coveted title.
The lanky fast bowler who will lead the side in upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup, which is likely to be his last participation in the cricket’s biggest extravaganza, played 287 List A matches to reach the milestone.
Amongst the 400 wickets, he grabbed 259 wickets in 205 ODIs. For Bangladesh he however took 258 wickets in 203 matches while he played two matches for Asia XI and picked up one wicket.
After taking 2-48 against Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club in the group phase of DPL, he stood on 399 wickets but later failed to scalp any wicket in the last three matches. But the record is inevitable and he picked up the match, which is always termed as prestigious battle, to reach the new milestone.
Mashrafe is the second Bangladeshi bowler to take 400 List A wickets. His friend and veteran left-arm spinner Abdur Razzak, playing for Prime Bank Cricket Club, earlier last month reached 400 List A wickets milestone in this league.
Razzak is also the first man to take 500 first class wickets for Bangladesh.
