Shakib to be called up from IPL to join World Cup camp

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is set to send a letter to Shakib Al Hasan, letting him know the team’s practice camp for the ICC Cricket World Cup begins on April 22.

Shakib is currently in the camp of his IPL franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad. He has played just one game in the tournament but chances are high that he may play at the latter stage when several key overseas recruits of Sunrisers will leave the squad to join their respective side’s World Cup camp, reports BSS.

Like other boards, BCB also is expecting to have Shakib in the camp from the very beginning.

“Since our camp begins on April 22, I have told the management to send a letter to Shakib informing him about the camp,” BCB president Nazmul Hassan Papon said in Dhaka today.

Papon said that there is no discussion with Shakib as of now regarding his availability in the World Cup camp from the beginning.

“I don’t talk to him regarding whether he would join the camp once it starts. But I think he should be sent a letter so that he can be informed and ready to join the camp,” he said.

“After sending the letter, we will see what response he gives after which we will take the decision.”

Immediately after recovering from his little finger injury, Shakib joins his IPL team Sunrisers Hyderabad.

He however keeps contacting with BCB medical team as it was advised and is yet to make complain about any injury.
