Tigers’ show form in practice match
After a dismal performance in the three-match ODI series, Tigers finally showed form when they scored 411 for 6 at stumps against New Zealand XI on the first day of two-day practice match at Bert Sutcliffe Oval in Lincoln on Saturday.
Thanks to half centuries from Shadman Islam (67), Liton Das (62), Mahmudullah (59) and Mehedi Hasan (51) that helped the Tigers to make a good start all scored fifties while Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarkar also contributed 45 and 41 respectively as they frustrated opposition bowlers throughout the day after deciding to bat first, reports BSS.
The two Tigers openers – Tamim Iqbal and Shadman Islam – gave Tigers a good start contributing 113-run for the opening stand before Bangladesh both the openers and Mominul Haque (20) at 151 for 3 in the scoreboard.
However, Liton Das, Soumya Sarkar, Mehedy Hasan and Mahmudullah – all carried the momentum for Bangladesh before all of them retired to give others some batting practice.
Nayeem Hasan (12) was the last batsman dismissed on the first day. Khaled Ahmed was 0 at the crease as the stumps were drawn for the day. Left-arm spinner Blake Coburn was the most successful New Zealand XI’s bowlers as he claimed two Bangladesh’s wickets giving away 92 runs.
Dependable batsman Mushfiqur Rahim and inform batsman Mohammad Mithun did not participate in the match for Bangladesh.
