Another high for Kohli, breaks Tendulkar’s IPL record
Virat Kohli’s brilliant run with the bat continues and his skill has prompted comparisons with the great Sachin Tendulkar.
After scoring his second century in this IPL season, Kohli broke yet another record held by his idol.
Kohli became the first captain in the league to score 500-plus runs in three separate seasons.
Tendulkar had scored 500-plus runs in two editions as captain of Mumbai Indians, India Today reports.
Tendulkar scored over 500 runs in two editions of the IPL - 618 in 2010 and 553 in 2011.
Kohli presently leading the run-charts in this edition with 541 runs had earlier got to the milestone in 2013 and 2015. In 2013, he scored 634 (highest by any captain) and 505 in 2015.
Gautam Gambhir and David Warner are the other captains to have scored more than 500 runs in a season.
Riding on Kohli’s unbeaten 108, Royal Challengers Bangalore chased down the target of 192 to beat Rising Pune Supergiants by seven wickets in an IPL match on Saturday.
